What’s Good For R.B Should Be Good For Sata

HYPOCRISY
Behind The Mask

– “A gateway religion to heaven” (So we say)

[Christianity]

– Naïve, kind, generous, wise, civil, unconfrontational, thoughtful, church-ie… (you get the picture)

…It’s all ‘God-bless-you-God-bless-me’ and ‘God-loves-you-God-loves-me’ to say the least – but for others, it’s the necessary mask to make-ends-meet.

THE LEAD: Lusaka, Zambia — Amid wide spread national wage disputes, Republican President Micheal Sata has reportedly increased his salary for the third time in two years.

The K414,406 ($77,000+) per annum increament which duarfs his predecessor (Rupiah Banda)’s K164,000 ($30,000+), was done right in the middle of the striking nurses and council workers. Today (October, 16), Shoprite workers who downed tools—have been sacked.

In 2011, when the incumbent President was in opposition, he vigorously opposed the-then President’s proposed salary increament; who inturn, back-pedalled.

Lowest paid in SADC?

President Sata’s K414,406 ($77,634) salary is no where near Obama’s $400000, Cameron’s $226,751 or Putin’s $115,000 annual salary; Sata is way out their league, on ‘all levels’, so-to-say. (economy inclusive)

Micheal Sata isn’t the lowest paid head of state in Southern Africa. Robert Mugabe comes in at number one with $18,000 – which was $20,800 in 2009.

(regardless, everyone knows the big boys have ‘other ways’ of ‘fund raising’)

It sounds petty to question the number one citizen’s paycheque – owing to the fact that he ‘serves’ us.

But, if our number one citizen bullied the former number one citizen into recinding the same decision – and – the fact that our poor ecconomy isn’t taken into cosideration; he should be held to the same standard.

Blame Game

The notion that the standing orders commitee of parliament was responsible for the salary increament of members of the executive and legislature, hence “the president’s hands were tied” – is absolute rubish.

The Finance Minister’s authority to sign the the statutory instrument into law is deligated from the President.

‘Ten Commandments’

This is clearly a manifestation of a be-it-me-or-be-it-none childish tantrum. Saying “I’ll follow the ten commandments” to the cameras, should atleast be followed by action in that direction. (no pun intended)
